Final Rule for Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification (CMMC) Program Simplifies Compliance for Defense Contractors

The final rule for the Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification (CMMC) Program was released for public inspection and is expected to be published on October 15. The CMMC aims to ensure defense contractors comply with protections for federal contract information (FCI) and controlled unclassified information (CUI) by safeguarding against cybersecurity threats. The new rule simplifies the process, especially for small- and medium-sized businesses, by reducing the number of assessment levels from five to three.
